Tarte Tatin - The classic of bistronomy that we devour

If you have never eaten Tarte Tatin then I advise you to follow this recipe as soon as you have finished reading it.
I love the melt-in-the-mouth taste of the apples, the good taste of the vanilla, the smell of the caramel and the crispness of the dough.
I like to add a spoonful of fresh cream, whipped when I eat it.
It makes my mouth water when I write it down!
This tart is super easy to make as you will see. And I'm sure you have all the ingredients you need to make it at home. Put on your apron and let's go.

  • 200 g flour
  • 100 g butter
  • 25 g of sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 glass of water at room temperature
  • 8 golden apples
  • 100 g of sugar
  • 50g butter ½ salt
  • ½ vanilla bean


Preparation of the dough

  • Mix flour and sugar in a bowl.
  • Make a well, add the butter in small cubes.
  • Sand the mixture with your hands
  • Adds the egg yolk, mixes
  • If necessary, add a little water with your fingertips.
  • Forms a ball
  • Keep it in the fridge


  • Wash and peel apples
  • Cut the apples in 8


  • Melt the butter in your mould in the oven at 350°F.
  • Add the sugar, then the apples

Dough and baking

  • Spread the dough to form a circle slightly larger than your pan.
  • Put it on top of your apples
  • Bake your pie 35mn in the oven at 350°F (180°C).



You can use golden apples, but the Royal Gala, Pink Lady or Reine des Reinettes are a good alternative.
